ESPN close on TV deal with Bowl Championship Series

NEW YORK — The Bowl Championship Series says it is close to a deal with ESPN on the television rights to college football’s championship game and biggest bowls.

The games are currently shown by over-the-air network Fox, and would be going to cable for the first time since the system was implemented in 1998.
